Hi! Thanks for stopping by!
I live in Maryland with my maltipoo (son) Leo and my holland lop Oatly! I have a passion for writing, and prior to writing Gracefully Ill, wrote essays on healing, grief, chronic illness coping, and emotional wellbeing – which you can find across the web. I always hope that anyone who stumbles across a piece of my writing will leave the essay feeling a little bit lighter, or feeling a little bit more joy or hope, as they make their way through their day.
I studied developmental disabilities (especially autism) in grad school, and currently work for an autism organization where I have the opportunity to advocate for autistic people and create resources and materials in the hopes of making the world more accessible to neurodivergent people – particularly those who are non-speaking.
I was diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) in 2013, during my senior year of college, when I very suddenly started passing out, after a week of very intense exhaustion. Since then, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (which might impact my life the most), and MCAS.
Gracefully Ill: Finding Peace in the Chaos of Chronic Illness is a book filled with encouragement & little lessons I’ve learned on this chronic illness roller coaster — lessons from friends, loved ones, books and everyone & everything in between.
We all have different experiences, but at the end of the day, I think we might see that our lives are more similar than they are different.
If you decide to read Gracefully Ill, I sincerely hope it brings you a little extra comfort, support, and the reassurance that you are never alone.
I would love to connect with you – please feel free to reach out!
